Today and yesterday wern't too bad. I'm still not sleeping well! That is about the only bad thing.
Got the ketone strips and whooohooo I'm in ketosis! The scale should be friendly to me this week.
Not very creative on the menu in the past couple of days. Today was the first day back to work and, as usual, I was running late. Had one hard boiled egg for breakfast. Cold cuts, cheese and salad for lunch and broiled pork chops, green beans and salad for dinner. Stopped by the store on my way home and picked up some sugar free jello cups. Mmmmm I was missing something sweet.
I have been doing much better with water. Had the full 64oz today!
One word for tonight: SLEEP!

Day 2
I didn't sleep very well last night. Too much iced tea...I need to look for some decaf.
Breakfast was two scrambled eggs...yummy.
Lunch: romaine hearts salad with Ranch dressing
Dinner: grilled portabella mushroom cap, marinade of olive oil, garlic, salt pepper
shrimp in lemon and lime juice with cilantro and avacado.
Good day for low carbs!
Water intake wasn't as much as needed today. Must increase water intake tomorrow.
I ate enough to keep me from feeling hungry although I was ready to eat before dinner. I think it was looking at the shrimp dish that made me hungy. I couldn't wait to eat it, Christine hit a home run with this!
No stats today. I'll weigh and measure once per week.
Tomorrow I need to find my ketone strips or buy some more so I'll know when I'm in ketosis. If you do the Atkins diet I highly recommend these strips. When you don't see weight loss on the scale the strips help to keep you motivated showing your body is burning fat.
Here's to sleeping better tonight!

Starting....
Okay, like millions of Americans I'm starting a diet! Usually the New Years resolution thing isn't my bag, but it is New Years Day 2010 and, well, I'm fat! I put on way too many pounds in the last year and it is time to lose them. I'm going to use this blog to track my progress (or lack of it) and to keep me motivated.
The Atkins diet seems like the perfect choice. In the past I've had success with Atkins. During the summer I lost 20lbs on Atkins but then potatoes, sourdough bread and beer came calling and brought the 20 plus a few with them.
Atkins is good for me for a few reasons:
1) it works
2) meat, you could call me a beef-aholic
3) it's free!
4) no pre-packaged add water food...sorry Chris Berman
One thing I have to keep is coffee. Atkins calls for decaf, we'll see how far that goes. I will limit it to 3 cups per morning and increase my water intake.
Exercise needs to be part of any plan to lose weight. I plan to get to the gym or walk the neighborhood a few times a week. Christine, the kids and I did go to the gym today. Jesse, HP and I played racquetball for about an hour. My plan is to enjoy exercising and not let it become a chore.
Starting stats:
Weight: 202
Waist: 35 1/2
Face: Charlie Bownish....
Wish me luck!
